Recently awarded 6th GREEN FLAG for Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste

Global Citizenship

Global Citizenship: Litter and Waste is the sixth Green-Schools theme. This maintenance theme enabled our school to see how the work we have done has positively influenced people and environments around the world while revising the previous theme, Litter and Waste. We also investigated the problem of ocean plastic which is very topical at the moment.

The overall aim of this theme was to create a knowledge and understanding about the link between environmental degradation and human rights. While working on this theme we were able to learn about and celebrate all the different nationalities in our school and reduce our landfill waste by 50%.

5th Green Flag – Biodiversity

Biodiversity looks at increasing awareness in schools of the importance of native plants, animals and habitats.

Previous flags have been awarded to the school for Litter and Waste Management, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity.

We work closely with the Tidy Towns who recently got a Gold Medal. We mark important days during the year such as National Tree Week.
